Pantone, the global authority for color trends, has named “Peach Fuzz” the Color of the Year for 2024. While we are not so fond of the name (preferring “Peach Fizz” or better yet “Bellini”), we are loving the graceful shades of this color that we are seeing on fashion runways in New York, Paris, and Milan. 

The warm, gentle hue, according to Pantone, “captures our desire to nurture ourselves and others. It’s a velvety peach tone whose all-embracing spirit enriches the mind, body, and soul.” 

It is a very particular color, making it challenging to wear and especially to accessorize. We suggest accessorizing the color of the year with gem quality Angel Skin Coral or perhaps the delicate colors in Maligano Jasper.  Of all the peachy-pink natural gems (think padparadscha sapphire, morganite, pink opal, etc.), Angel Skin Coral is the most precious, rare, and ethically sourced gemstone in the ‘Peach Fuzz’ color scheme.

Leatrice Eiseman, Executive Director, Pantone Color Institute, explained the choice for 2024 … “We chose a color radiant with warmth and modern elegance. A shade that resonates with compassion, offers a tactile embrace, and effortlessly bridges the youthful with the timeless.” 

Similar words could be used to describe Angel Skin Coral, especially warmth and modern elegance. One of Nature’s rarest and most prized treasures, Angel Skin Coral is actually an albino version of coral. It lives off the coastal waters of Japan, Taiwan, and Hawaii. Fishing or harvesting of Angel Skin Coral trees is very highly restricted to preserve the beloved species and ensure its sustainability. It ranges in color from pale pink or white shades to the warmer salmon hues. It has been popular in fine jewelry since the late 19^th century as it adds the sophistication of rarity and purity. When consistency of color is achieved throughout an entire strand, it is quite a marvel! Better yet, the precious coral, when well cared for, retains that beauty over time and can be handed down as an heirloom.

According to WWD, “the biggest color for spring 2024 was a non-color.” Monochromatic white ruled the runways at Chloé, Proenza Schouler, PatBo, Gabriella Hearst, Christian Soriano, Coach, Khaite, Bevza, Chanel, Valentino, and more. Colorless all-white looks for the Spring/Summer 2024 season abound, void of logos or embellishments. Surprisingly, these looks pair perfectly with Peach Fuzz accessories.  For Spring/Summer 2024, pair your all-white ensemble with Angel Skin Coral earrings or strands.  Or freshen up your neutral beiges, pale blues, and khakis with a whisper of color in the soft peachy-pink shades that this precious coral offers.

Pair Peach Fuzz with Greys, Blues, and Burgundy

For those wanting a more daring style, try color combinations that really pop, pairing the peachy hue with grays, light blues, or burgundy. Alaïa showed peachy skirts with dark gray overcoats and sweaters. The look is understated and cultured, perfectly adorned with earrings like the Assael Tahitian pearl, Angel Skin Coral and Aquamarine earrings. Balmain featured blazers and overcoats in the warm peach hue but with dynamic strips of light blue for a particularly fresh feel. For even more drama, follow Bottega Veneta’s lead. The Italian trend-setter paired deep burgundy leather with a luscious peach scarf. The effect is a bit playful and feels like a very contemporary color combination. The pink-ish shades of Maligano Jasper, particularly those with natural inclusions that look like Sakura blossoms, make the perfect complement. The warm orange-salmon-pink color of Peach Fuzz has a natural aesthetic, like a familiar sunset hue. This is one reason it can be worn for daily wear as a refreshing pop of color. To elevate the look, add some sparkle or luster.  Angel Skin Coral pairs gorgeously with diamonds. The scintillation and the brilliance of the diamonds highlights the sheen of the polished coral. To elevate an everyday trench coat, Aalïa featured a shimmery peach hued leather overcoat atop a transparent peach dress in its Spring/Summer 2024 show. The monochrome style was offset with all-white accessories, both gloves and handbag. That little sense of sparkle or reflective shimmer transforms the trench into a super chic style, similar to the way diamonds ramp up the glamour in an Angel Skin Coral halo earring or bow ring. 

The luster of pearls can also add timeless elegance. Zoë Kravitz, as styled by Andrew Mukamal, foreshadowed the white-peach combo at the 2020 SAG Awards in a sublime peach gown with all-white gloves and white pearl earrings (see above). The luster of the pearls casts a gentle glow on the skin and matches the soft femininity of the Peach Fuzz hue. If you add some peachy fabrics to your wardrobe this year, wear them with your favorite pearls for a heightened sense of sophistication.

However you don the new Peach Fuzz color, enjoy the warmth of it and let its nurturing qualities calm your spirit. Wear it with neutrals or grays, blues, and burgundy. And when the occasion calls for a mood lift or a little splash of elegance, add the shimmer of diamonds or the luster of pearls. It’s a happy, feel-good, graceful color. Enjoy the vibe.
