Spring Flings – Pearls & It Girls
Spring 2019 has been hopping with an abundance of social events and celebrity photo ops on the calendar. Spring flings tend to bring out the best in all of us, as we shed the winter gear and opt for sleeveless dresses, shorter skirts and fun, fanciful headwear. As we were browsing the red-carpet images, we could not help but notice all the beautiful pearls. It Girls everywhere are loving the luster and sporting everything from pearl earrings to pearl headbands.
Met Gala Delight
The Met Gala has become THE fashion event of the year, with celebrities and style makers of all types taking the red carpet by storm. Pearls were a big part of the fun. Kylie Jenner wore a wonderful pair of pearl drop earrings with her lavender Versace ensemble. Gal Godot was radiant in all-white Givenchy and an almost bridal pearl-studded headband. Constance Wu and Lucy Boynton opted for pearl-embellished gowns by Marchesa and Prada respectively. Lucy Liu and Emma Stone were stunning in simple, chic pearl drop earrings. And Zoe Kravitz was an absolute knockout in pearl chandelier earrings that added the perfect touch of tradition to her ultra-mod, sleek, open-bodice gown.
Derby Drama & Resort Wear
Despite the controversy at the end, the Derby started off with its usual flair of fashion and fun as various trendsetters strutted the red carpet in all their finery. Hats weren’t the only accessories of note this year. Pearl drop earrings proved the perfect demure partner for the fascinators and fanciful hats worn with long hairstyles. Baroque pearl drops were also seen on the Prada Resort 2020 runway, worn by It Girl Gigi Hadid. With so much colorful pizzazz in fashion these days, the refined simplicity of pearls elevate the playful looks and a touch of sophisticated elegance to the overall ensemble.
Tribeca Film Festival, Jazz at Lincoln Center and More
The Big Apple was literally glistening with It Girls in pearls on the red carpet this spring. Zoe Colletti charmed in a pale pink pearl choker necklace with drop earrings at the Tribeca Film Festival promoting her new film “Skin.” Lana Turner opted for oversized pearls for her dramatic entrance to Jazz at Lincoln Center, while Kristen Lee Sargent sported a lengthy rope of pearls wrapped once around the neck and then plunging down below her waist. Philanthropist and socialite Jean Shafiroff wore an astonishing double strand pearl necklace at the Youth America Grand Prix 20th Anniversary. On the West Coast, Nigerian-American artist Annahstasia Enuke donned a vintage inspired multistrand pearl choker at the launch of the first-ever Afropolitan Beauty Brand House of Uma in Los Angeles. Women of all ages, styles and ethnicities are opting for the power of pearls to enhance their overall image and elevate their look.
