Seaside Luxury – Late Summer & Travel Wardrobe Inspirations
Warmer weather offers us all a chance for a little proverbial R&R. As many of us are preparing for exotic travels and/or luxurious weekend festivities, or just transitioning our wardrobe from late summer into early autumn, let’s make a pact to look our very best. At Assael, we love the stylish inspirations of seaside luxury destinations. Here are our thoughts on keeping it simple, chic and oh so selfie-ready.
Neutral Fabrics Travel Best
When packing up or primping for your exclusive soirees, remember that neutrals make for great travel partners. Ivory, khaki or camel colored fabrics mix and match easily, so you can get by with packing a little bit less. Neutral tones also make terrific backdrops for your favorite colorful accessories, making it easy to add the colors of fall or stick with summer brights as long as possible. There is something very ‘Monte Carlo’ about a short jacket or cropped sweater over the perfect pair of designer slacks, with high heel sandals, of course.
Accessories Make the Moment
Whether you are island-hopping in Greece or just want to achieve that fresh-off-a-private-yacht look, a one-piece pantsuit fits the bill. Keep it streamlined and tasteful, so that you can accessorize like a celebrity. Flouncy hats are optimal, blocking harmful UV rays while bringing a sense of sumptuous resort style and Old Hollywood glam. Add the biggest pair of diva sunglasses you can find. Halter and tank top pantsuits keep the arms open for statement cuffs, armbands or stackable bangle bracelets. And one-piece outfits in general (jumpsuits or dresses) travel well and look fabulous with a longer, opera-length necklace.
Splash of Color
Before you set sail, be sure to pack at least one piece of bold, bright color – the perfect red dress or a navy blue nautical blazer. Floral prints are also in fashion. For late summer travel or transitioning to a fall wardrobe, a radiant hue will help you stand out in a crowd of little black dresses at that polo match or a wedding reception. And if you are away for a few days, you will want at least one photo op to involve a splash of color. Bright colors get more Instagram likes. To accent your daring hues, find a complementary color for your accessories or go for a classic look with a strand of pearls or small layered pendants.
Show Some Skin
Take advantage of warm weather to let your skin breathe a little. Backless sundresses, halter tops and blouses with asymmetrical sleeves are all en pointe for style gurus. But shake things up and keep it current with thin belts or ties at the waist, satin or lacey fabrics, dark floral prints, ruffles and little white dresses (as opposed to the traditional LBD). Pair your stylish frock with strappy sandals and a necklace worn down the spine or a bold cocktail ring worn on the pointer finger. Lastly, find a sparkling blue gem like aquamarine that makes you look as cool as the water itself.
Wherever you go, at home or abroad, get motivated to stay stylish and let a little seaside luxury inspire you. We surely did!
