If you think of Palm Beach as your grandparents’ winter destination of choice, think again. Right now some of the chicest young women we know are packing their best resort wear and jewelry for the new Palm Beach; others have permanently decamped there to run their businesses full time. According to Town & Country, this quintessential American resort town “built on classics has a fresh energy.” Fueled in part by third-generation Palm Beachers who work as hard as they play, today’s Palm Beach appeals to a younger-than-ever demographic.
Meet the New Who’s Who
Beauty entrepreneur Aerin Lauder is the granddaughter of cosmetics mogul and famed PB hostess Estée Lauder. Aerin’s new shop on Via Mizner, off Worth Avenue, carries an impeccable collection of home décor accessories and luxury gifts.
Lilly McKim Leas is a regular at the annual American Red Cross Beach Bash, where millennial Palm Beachers dress in floral prints by Lilly’s grandmother, Lilly Pulitzer. Leas is also president and owner of Tradewinds Media Partners, a successful PR firm in Palm Beach.
When shopping in PB, don’t miss the Royal Poinciana Plaza near the legendary Breakers Hotel. Developed by another third-generation Palm Beacher, Samantha Perry David, the center has helped revitalize the town. (Note: This apple didn’t fall far from the family tree; Samantha’s father is financier Richard Perry and her mother is fashion designer Lisa Perry.)
What to Wear
Are you wondering how to achieve the eclectic Palm Beach jewelry look? Moda Operandi co-founder Lauren Santo Domingo has curated five must-have pieces you can wear in new ways to make the ultimate style statement. Lauren recommends every Palm Beach jewelry wardrobe should have a pearl necklace, a cocktail ring, a “Twinset” matching necklace and earrings, fan-shaped earrings, a bejeweled brooch, and statement clip-ons.
