New Year, New You : 5 Styling Tips To Update Your Favorite Fashions
As we ring in 2018, it’s time to spruce up the winter wardrobe and create a fabulous new look for a new year and a new you. Use these styling tips to create some fun new favorites for yourself.
Denim: Have a favorite pair of designer jeans? Keep it fresh and mod with an opera length strand of pearls layered around the neck and/or tied into a youthful knot. It makes the pearls less matronly and gives a more casual, easy elegance to the overall look. Or try a partial tuck of your favorite blouse or sweater for a super chic runway-worthy look. Models rarely tuck in fully anymore, especially not with jeans. Add an embellished clutch for date night and for those wonderfully ripped up jeans, grab a powerful statement ring that will sparkle as you hook your thumbs into those tight-fitting pockets.
Pants Suit or Knit Dress – For your go-to pantsuit or one-piece dress, to keep it from looking frumpy, try a jumbled choker-length multi-strand pearl necklace or layer up some longer length station chains with pearls and gold accents. Keep the jacket open to let the necklaces sway as you walk and strike a pose. Why not treat yourself to the luxury of a pedicure in the winter? Then at your next indoor event, throw on some pearl embellished open-toe mules to let those ruby reds shine.
Sweaters – Have a favorite sweater that you “live in” during the frigid days of winter? Pearls are always a go-to sweater accessory. With no prongs or rough edges, pearls will never damage your comfy plush cashmere. But keep the look fresh and exciting by opting for a stack of pearl bangles or a super chic, stylish multi pearl ring. For those turtle neck lovers, try a large impressive choker length or a dramatic pearl drop earring or hoop that will win the battle of the turtle neck bulge and bring a splash of luminosity to your face.
L.B.D. – After all the holiday parties, it’s time to relax. When you bring out those little black dresses now, don’t suit up so seriously. Layer your necklaces all together and avoid matchy-matchy earrings. Use contrast to keep it stylish but charming, less serious. Try some organic, beautiful baroque pearls instead of perfectly round pearls – in a gorgeous gold cuff like Assael’s new basket weave bracelet. Throw on some boots instead of stilettos for an easy elegance.
Ring in the New Year – My favorite self-purchase accessory has always been rings. Why? Because I can see them – all day, every day. They catch my eye as I type on my laptop and elicit compliments whenever I bring out my wallet to pay or shake someone’s hand. Start your year off right by spending those gift cards or holiday monies on a brand new ring. If you opt for a bold statement ring, be sure to try it on and make sure it will be comfortable to wear. Also experiment with different fingers – the ring finger is no longer alone as now stylish women and trend setters are wearing rings on any finger they choose. For up-to-the-minute feel, try color coordinating your manicure with your favorite statement ring!
