Notable happenings were abundant at Sunday night’s 75th Annual Golden Globe Awards in Beverly Hills! First was the sea of black dresses (garments that inadvertently presented the perfect backdrop for some impressive jewels to shine) worn by the Hollywood elite in a show of solidarity for the Times Up legal rights movement. Second were the special guests and activists brought by stars to cast a spotlight on females outside of Hollywood who fight for women’s rights. Big Little Lies’ Laura Dern, winner of Best Performance by an Actress in a Supporting Role in a Series, Limited Series or Motion Picture Made for Television, brought Mónica Ramírez of World Without Exploitation. Battle of the Sexes nominee Emma Stone brought tennis star Billie Jean King. And finally, there was the jewelry, including linear drop earrings, statement rings, and black-and-white color stories as the standouts. These were, by far, the most widely worn accessory of the night! Look to The Descendants 2’s Dove Cameron in faux diamond styles, This Is Us’ Mandy Moore in gemstones, Wonder Woman’s Gal Gadot (a presenter) and E!’s Giuliana Rancic in colorless diamonds, and nominee Maggie Gyllenhaal and Tracee Ellis Ross, one of the founders of Times Up, in lustrous white pearls.

Statement Rings.

Crowd favorites included several massive statements on the digits of presenter Catherine Zeta-Jones, singer Zoe Kravitz, Will & Grace’s Debra Messing, and nominee Ashley Judd. More sparkling versions included those worn by Girls’ Allison Williams and nominee Katherine Langford. No matter the gem, though, one bold cocktail ring perched in an unexpected position—think a non-ring finger—will make a statement others won’t forget.
